  1. KU-NTIC/IRDP, a KOICA-funded project jointly managed by Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal and Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Korea opens a call from interested business units inside Kathmandu University to be on boarded into School Based Enterprise Framework.

 

  1. School Based Enterprises (SBEs) are the industrial spin-off from Kathmandu University that offer benefits to both students as well as faculties to practically execute their academic knowledge, develop generic working skills such as problem solving, working in teams, etc. In addition to that, SBEs can be an effective model to create profits for sustaining non-profit educational institutions such as Kathmandu University (KU). The major objective of the SBE would be to:

 

  • To contribute to the financial sustainability of Kathmandu University
  • To enhance KU brand image
  • To provide the opportunity of participation in R&D for KU faculty and students
  • Revenue creation and enhance industry-friendly
  • To offer on-site training for KU students and to strengthen the capability of startups

 

 

 

  1. The main eligibility criteria are as follows
  • The Business Unit should already be under operation
  • The Business Unit should have produced viable product and service
  • The Business Unit should have already tested their product among customers
  • The Business Unit should have proper plan to scale up their production

  1. Project support fund and details are presented below:

  1. Proposal document having signed on each page by authorized personnel must be submitted not later than 2 April, 2022 until 11:59 PM, local time. The document received later than the above-mentioned time and date will not be considered. Electronic submission must be done through email at ntic@ku.edu.np on or before 11:59 PM on 2 April, 2022. Proposal received after this deadline will be rejected.

 

  1. If the last date of submission falls on a Government/Kathmandu University holiday, then the following working day shall be considered as a deadline.

 

  1. Costs incurred for preparation of applications and site visits are to be borne by the applicant.

 

  1. KU-IRDP/NTIC reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications, cancel the process and reject all proposal applications without assigning any reason whatsoever. The applicant shall have no right to claim any cost associated with the preparation of proposal document under such circumstances.

Application call of the School Based Enterprise (SBE)

Background

School Based Enterprise (SBE) is one of the major functional areas to plan, support, and develop the existing small enterprise in Kathmandu University (KU). A self-creation model is required for NTIC to be sustainable. KU students’ education/ industrial excursions would improve operational capacity. School-based enterprises can be an effective model which can create profits and offer an educational venue for its professors and students. SBE is a system that meets both objectives of offering space for students on site training and securing school financial sustainability by allowing universities to establish profit generating enterprises.

 

Objectives of the SBE

        To contribute to the financial sustainability of NTIC

        To enhance KU brand image

        To provide the opportunity of participation in R&D for KU faculty and students

        Revenue creation and enhance industry-friendly education

        To offer on-site training for KU students and to strengthen the capability of startups
