KU-IRDP/NTIC successfully conducts Joint Inspection of the First Batch of Equipment

Nepal Technology Innovation Centre (NTIC) has received the first batch of equipment as support from the Korean Government which is worth approximately NRs 10 Crore. The joint inspection program was conducted today (14th September 2021) by KOICA Nepal, IRDP/NTIC, PMC (Joenbuk National University) and Labline traders to mark the successful installation of the first batch of Equipment.

KOICA Nepal team was led by Deputy Country Director Mr. Jong Sung Choi, Project Managing Consulting (PMC) team by Ms Ujin Shim, IRDP/NTIC team by the Team Leader Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha while lab line traders were led by Mr. Phadindra Giri.

On the site inspection program, the Team Leader of IRDP/NTIC expressed his gratitude towards the constant support by KOICA Nepal. Prof. Shrestha further mentioned it is IRDP/NTIC’s responsibility to effectively utilize those equipment and contribute towards the long term sustainability of NTIC.

There are altogether 17 sophisticated scientific equipment related to three thematic areas: Agricultural and rural development, alternative and renewable energy, and health related livelihood, which were finalized after the close consultation between KOICA, PMC and KU.  It is expected that these equipment will be beneficial for students, researchers as well as the faculty of Kathmandu University for a multitude of research activities. On top of that, NTIC has planned to utilize all the equipment by developing NTIC as a testing and accreditation center in future which will eventually help to sustain NTIC.

The equipment is temporarily placed at the Department of Pharmacy, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, Information System Management Section (ISMS) and Technical Training Center (TTC) building. The head of the respective departments will bear the primary responsibility of the equipment. After the completion of NTIC building at the end of 2022, those equipment will be reallocated permanently.
