Topic:Production  preparation and pre-launch customer feedback on selective coating  based solar thermal collector made in Nepal”

Project Description:

About 86 % of the population still depends on traditional practices for thermal energy needs. – To address the issues, Nepali solar manufacturers are producing solar water heating system. However, they are neither efficient nor durable. To improve the domestic products, we have developed black nickel selective coating based solar thermal collector prototype and already tested in Kathmandu University.

Objectives:

Main objectives of this proposed work is to upgrade our selective coating based solar water heating system “SWHS” and test its performance in three different climatic conditions before commercialization (launching in the Nepali market). For this we will be building three SWSH products and install in three provinces of Nepal representing different climatic conditions. Customer feedback and performance data including cost analysis will be known for optimization of our product for commercial viability

Expected Impact:

  • Technology for producing efficient and durable thermal solar heating system will be
ready to launch in Nepali market.
  • This will further improve healthy life of local people by fulfilling hot water demand,
    especially during winter season.
  • It also contributes reducing carbon emission by replacing the firewood for water
    heating purposes
  • Creates new job opportunities in the field of “Green Technologies”.
  • Capacity building of human resources in the field of solar energy technology
