Dr. Subodh Sharma completed his PhD from Vienna, Austria in 1996. He is now serving in the capacity of Registrar at Kathmandu University. Dr. Sharma is involved in extensive research of developing assessment systems for water quality assessment of high altitude lakes and rivers in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region (Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Northern India, and Northern Pakistan). Experienced in Ph.D. supervision, Dr. Sharma has to his credit, eleven successful and highly competent candidates in the field of river disturbance, fish ecology, macro invertebrates’ biodiversity & zoogeography, agricultural intensification and rivers water quality, high altitude lakes aquatic biodiversity, and pesticides use and human health impact assessment.

He is equally experienced in organization of international conferences, and coordination of multi-partnered international collaborative research projects. He holds post-doctoral experience under North South Dialogue Fellowship Scheme, and Eurasia Pacific Uninet Post Doctoral Fellow at the university of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria in the field of Paleolimnology using chironomids as indicators. Similarly he was Senior Fulbright Research Scholar (2009-2010) at Towson University in Maryland, USA in the field of Macroinvertebrates as Indicators of Climate Change in the High Altitude Lakes of the Himalaya. His professional interests are on teaching Aquatic Ecology- principles and advances, and Environmental/Strategic Environmental Assessment, and research on Paleoecology considering chironomids head capsule as a proxy of climate change in lakes. He is a highly experienced teacher with more than 25 years of teaching experience in the field of Environmental Studies.
