Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha

Prof. Bim Prasad Shrestha is currently the head of External Affairs and Global Engagement at Kathmandu University (KU). He started his career as a lecturer upon completion of Bachelors in Agriculture Engineering and subsequently his interest grew in agriculture mechanization and eventually, bio-systems engineering. He was a brilliant student; graduating with upper honors in his bachelors and suma cum laude in his masters (agriculture mechanization). He completed his PhD from Kagoshima University, Japan in Agriculture Engineering. After completing his postdoc at Michigan State University, he joined KU as an Assistant Professor. During his 14 years at KU, Prof. Bim has been highly decorated with 21 grants till date, 28 research and conference papers, and numerous research projects. His research areas are diverse covering biofuels and biomass, hydropower, machine vision, rainwater harvesting etc. Apart from his teaching and research responsibilities, Prof. Bim is heavily involved in developing collaboration and linkages with various national and international universities and agencies. He has led several projects with the World Bank, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAICA), US Embassy/ Department of State Educational and Cultural Affairs. He is also the current Principal Investigator/Head of the Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP) under KU and KOICA.
